Why not a subscription

A subscription pays for something that costs money to keep running. VidDL doesn't. Your downloads go straight to your disk, transcription runs on your processor, and summaries run on an AI key you already pay for. Charging monthly would be renting you your own computer.

What you're actually paying for

Free downloaders exist, and they are free because you are the product. The thing worth money here is everything after the download: attribution that credits the creator properly, a stamp library, clipping, and a tool that doesn't treat you as traffic to be monetised.

Is this really a one-time payment?

Yes. $36.90 once, and the app is yours. There is no renewal, no expiry and no tier above this one.

How many computers can I use it on?

One licence covers the machines you personally use, Mac and Windows both. It is a licence for a person, not for a device.

Are updates included?

Yes. The platforms change how they serve video constantly, and keeping up with that is the job. Updates are part of what you bought, not an upsell.

Does it stop working if I go offline?

No. The key is checked once and remembered. After that the app never needs to reach us again, and downloading works anywhere you have a connection to the platform itself.

Do I need to pay for AI on top?

Only if you want written summaries, and only to whoever supplies your key. Transcription runs locally at no cost. If you run a local model through Ollama, the whole thing costs nothing and nothing leaves your machine.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Write in and we will sort it out. If the app cannot do what this site says it does, you should not be out of pocket for it.
